Mini Horse Heroes is a herd of 4 miniature horses, each with their own personality and suited to different roles.

They are well-known in their local community and can often be seen taking a stroll around the country park or Barming Woods. They enjoy their walks, and it is good for them to meet different people and to be exposed to different things going on around them. This helps the horses to remain calm when they are in a home or school or community event, but it is also a pleasure for us as we enjoy their company and sharing walks with them. The miniature horses are a part of the family and have been part of my journey after a traumatic accident, helping me with my own mental health and well-being as I recovered from the accident.

Meet Dude
Dude is the head of the herd. Don’t be deceived by his little stature, he calmly keeps all the ponies in check. He started visiting residents in care homes in 2021 and he can often be found with his head resting in their hands or laps having a little doze. We are never sure whether he does this to rummage down the sides of a chair or a bed to find a biscuit though.

When Dude goes to a care home, has been trained to navigate small spaces so he can get into a lift to visit bed-ridden residents and he can reverse his body around furniture within a room so he can get close to a resident.
Meet Naughty Nero
Nero is a cheeky pony who loves doing tricks to make people laugh. He can be quite excitable, and loves nothing more than a walk, especially if it ends in jumping some logs at the woods as that is his favourite pastime.

He loves dressing up and showing off as you can see in this picture of the fancy dress at the Kent Show in 2022 when he got married to Lulu (who was wearing a wedding dress of course).
​Nero is learning liberty which is a training method that enhances the bond and trust between horse and human. This has been quite successful with him and my aim is to learn some fun routines to music.
Meet Lovely Lulu
Lulu is a gentle and kind companion who loves to be pampered. With a natural affinity to people of all ages.
Her warm spirit shines through wherever she goes which in the last year has included schools, nurseries, the Kent Show and even a Christening event to keep the children entertained.
Meet Gorgeous Gertie
Meet Gertie, an inspiring rescue pony with a heartwarming journey. Initially shy and distrustful, she has blossomed into the loveliest pony through gentle handling and unconditional love.
She has formed a special bond with Dude, following him everywhere and joining him at various events like fetes and the Kent Show to build her confidence. Last Christmas, she brightened the lives of care home residents during her pony visits, showcasing her growth and confidence as she met new friends along the way.
